Submission

In our Women’s Bible study of 1 Peter we are taking a deep dive into the topic of submission. The dictionary defines the word as, “to accept or yield to a superior force or the authority or will of another person.” I think we can all agree this is contrary to our natural tendency! I know that’s true of me.

The Biblical definition is meekness, or strength under control. What does that look like? It means showing honor to our leaders in the church, our community, and our country, both privately and publicly. How well are we modelling submission to our children, our neighbors, the world?

God instituted every leader over us (Rom. 13:1-7). May He find us faithful to lay aside our own desires to show preferential love to these leaders, and each other. May he give us the meekness of Christ - strength under control in all things.
